Cooler temperatures, new schedules, the end of summer. Perhaps you have time now to do a little more reading, or you have a new area of ministry that you want to prepare for. Remember to check your church library shelves for wholesome offerings from trusted authors, many of which have been read and donated by your fellow church members.
Donations of exciting new titles continue to pour in and fill up our fiction shelves. Generous congregants are keeping us stocked with additions to the “Love Inspired” paperback series. Her Forever Cowboy, April in Bloom, and A McKaslin Homecoming are the latest newcomers. Also added to the “Home to Heather Creek” books is Tricia Goyer’s Sweet September.
For more serious reading, R. Kent Hughes outlines the Disciplines of a Godly Man. And to not neglect the ladies, a sweet primer on 365 Things a New Mom Should Know by Linda Davis is available.
Two newer books by Richard Foster of Spiritual Disciplines fame are Longing for God: Seven Paths of Christian Devotion and A Year with God. Bill Hybels helps you think through Who You Are When No One’s Looking – a treatise on authenticity and true faith. Or take a look at John Ortberg’s Everybody’s Normal Till You Get to Know Them and discover his prescription for honest and effective relationships within the church.
